CopyObjects Command
Overview
The “CopyObjects Command” copies the selected objects to a position you specify in the
view. Unlike the “Copy Command” and the “Paste Command”, which work through the
clipboard, this command asks for a base point and a destination point and places the copy
straight away.
The command is started by entering “_CmdCopy” in the prompt window.
Usage
Here is an explanation of how the “CopyObjects Command” is typically used:
-
Start the command.
-
Select the objects when the prompt “Select objects to copy.” is displayed. If objects
are already selected when the command is started, the selection prompt is skipped and
the current selection is used. -
Specify the base point of the copy when the prompt “Input base point.” is displayed.
-
Specify where the copy is to be placed when the prompt “Input destination point.
(Esc to finish)” is displayed. The objects are copied and the number of copies is
reported in the prompt window. -
Continue specifying destination points to place further copies. Press Esc to finish
the command.
Notes
- Only objects derived from IfcProduct that have an IfcLocalPlacement with an
IfcAxis2Placement3D can be copied. Any other object in the selection is skipped and
reported as “Skipped (not copyable): …”. - The copies are only moved by the distance between the base point and the destination
point. They are not rotated, mirrored or scaled. - When several objects are copied, the relative arrangement of the objects is kept.
