ClipPlaneAdd Command

Overview

The “ClipPlaneAdd Command” adds a clipping plane to the active view. Everything on the
back side of the plane is hidden, so you can look inside the model without changing it.

The command is started by entering “_CmdClipPlaneAdd” in the prompt window.

Usage

Here is an explanation of how the “ClipPlaneAdd Command” is typically used:

  1. Start the command.

  2. Specify the point the plane passes through when the prompt “Input the origin of the
    clip plane.” is displayed.

  3. Specify a second point when the prompt “Input the direction of the clip plane.” is
displayed. The normal of the plane runs from this second point towards the origin, so
the part of the model that lies beyond the second point is the part that is kept.

The clipping plane belongs to the view, not to the model, so it is not written to the IFC
file. To clip a view along a grid line or a storey instead, use the “Plan View Command”,
the “Elavation View Command” or the “Section View Command”, which offer a front and a
back clipping plane as settings.
